Court Suspends 2025/2026 Admissions at UNILAG/ OAU/ and JAMB

Court Suspends 2025/2026 Admissions at UNILAG/ OAU/ and JAMB; The Federal High Court in Enugu has ordered the suspension of all admission processes for the 2025/2026 academic session at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The order, delivered on Tuesday by Justice A.T. Segun-Bello, followed an ex-parte motion filed by five candidates—Chibuzor Success, Oyeleye Zainab Ayomide, Adedeji John Samuel, Monsura Aliat Aduragbem, and Bassey Daniel Nsikak—on behalf of other applicants who sat for the 2025 post-UTME examinations in the two universities.

The Applicants’ Request

The applicants sought interim injunctions to restrain UNILAG, OAU, and JAMB from:

  • Releasing admission lists
  • Approving admission lists
  • Uploading admission data
  • Finalising any admission list for the 2025/2026 session

Court’s Decision

In his ruling, Justice Segun-Bello stated that the matter raised “veritable and triable issues” that required both parties to be heard.

He subsequently ordered all parties to maintain the status quo until the substantive motion is determined.

The interim order effectively halts all admission activities in UNILAG, OAU, and JAMB pending further deliberations.

Next Steps

The case has been adjourned to October 28, 2025, for hearing.
