FG Declares Friday September 5 2025 Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid; The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Mawlid, the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, announced the holiday on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.


Government’s Message

The Federal Government congratulated Muslims across Nigeria and the diaspora on the occasion. It further urged the faithful to emulate the Prophet’s virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion in their daily lives.

The statement also encouraged all Nigerians, regardless of faith, to use the opportunity to pray for peace, unity, and stability in the country.
