Program Overview
The Harvard Academy Scholars Program provides young scholars the opportunity to advance their academic careers while being mentored and supported by senior Harvard faculty. Each year, five to six Academy Scholars are selected for a two-year in-residence appointment at Harvard University.
The fellowship allows recipients to deepen their expertise, conduct high-level research, and develop academic skills in their chosen fields. The program is open to international applicants from all countries.

Eligibility Criteria

- Applicants must hold a PhD or comparable doctoral degree (completed within two years of the August 1, 2026, start date)
- Advanced doctoral candidates in the social sciences may also apply
- Candidates nearing dissertation completion must provide degree conferral documentation from their university registrar by June 30, 2026, for an August 1, 2026, start date
- Individuals who currently hold or have completed another Harvard postdoctoral fellowship are not eligible
Fellowship Duration and Requirements
- The fellowship must begin no later than the fall immediately following the offer of appointment
- Deferrals or delays are not allowed for the start of Year 1
- The program runs for two years within a three-year timeframe
