UNILORIN 2025/2026 Postgraduate Admission; The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has officially opened its portal for 2025/2026 postgraduate admissions. This is your chance to advance your education with a diploma, master’s, M.Phil., or Ph.D. degree at one of Nigeria’s top universities.

📚 Types of Programmes Available

🔬 Ph.D. Programmes

  • Who Can Apply: Candidates with Master’s degrees (M.A., M.Ed., M.Eng., M.Sc., LL.M, M.P.H.)
  • Minimum Requirement: 60% average or 4.0 CGPA on a 5-point scale
  • Duration:
    • Full-time: 36 to 60 months
    • Part-time: 48 to 72 months
  • Note: Completion is research-based.

📖 M.Phil./Ph.D. Programmes

  • Who Can Apply: Candidates with 55–59.99% or CGPA of 3.5–3.99
  • Duration: 12–24 months (full-time)
  • Note: Students may upgrade to Ph.D. after one year if they score 60% or above.

🧪 M.Phil. Programmes

  • Eligibility: 50–54.99% or CGPA of 3.0–3.49
  • Duration: 18–24 months (full-time)
  • Note: Completion requires a research project.

🎓 Master’s Degrees (M.A., M.Ed., M.Eng., M.Sc., LL.M., M.P.H.)

  • Duration:
    • Full-time: 18–24 months
    • Part-time: 36–48 months
  • Structure: Combination of coursework and research.

📜 Postgraduate Diplomas (PGD)

  • Eligibility: Students with third-class degrees
  • Structure: Coursework-focused; leads to a postgraduate diploma.

✅ Who Can Apply?

To be eligible, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Qualifications: Hold relevant degrees or certificates.
  • NYSC Status: Present discharge or exemption certificate by 30th September 2025.
  • O’Level Results:
    • At least five credits, including English and Mathematics.
    • For results before 2015: a pass in English or Mathematics may be accepted.

📝 Programme-Specific Requirements

Master’s Degree Applicants

  • Must hold at least a second-class lower degree from UNILORIN or another approved institution.
  • If applying outside your first degree area, you must pass a qualifying test.

Ph.D. Applicants

  • All Ph.D. candidates will undergo a departmental interview.

International Students

  • Foreign applicants are not required to take qualifying exams.

  1. Visit the UNILORIN Postgraduate Portal.
  2. Download and study the official advertisement PDF before starting your application.
  3. Fill your application form carefully – the university will not be responsible for any errors.
  4. Upload scanned copies of all required documents.
  5. Print your completed application form and send it with physical copies of your certificates to your selected department by 6th June 2025.
  6. Ensure your academic transcripts are sent directly to the department. (UNILORIN will not accept responsibility for missing documents.)

🧪 Qualifying Exams

  • All PGD and Master’s applicants must take a qualifying exam.
  • Exemption: UNILORIN graduates with first-class or second-class upper degrees in the same course are exempted.
