Eligibility for BUK Direct Entry Screening
To qualify for the Direct Entry screening at Bayero University, Kano, you must meet the following criteria:
- JAMB Requirement: You must have applied through JAMB for Direct Entry admissions and chosen BUK as your first choice.
- Qualification: Possess any of the following qualifications with specified minimum points:
- National Diploma (ND): Accepted in all faculties except MBBS and Dentistry, with a minimum of Upper Credit.
- Higher National Diploma (HND): Accepted in all faculties except MBBS, Dentistry, and Allied Health Sciences, with a minimum of Lower Credit.
- Ordinary Diploma (OD): Accepted only in the Faculty of Law, with a minimum of Upper Credit.
- National Certificate in Education (NCE): Accepted in specific faculties with different minimum points (9 to 10 points).
- IJMB/GCE “A” Level: Accepted in all faculties except Education, with minimum points varying by faculty (9 to 12 points).
O’ Level Requirements
All National “O” Level results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, NBAIS) are accepted with a few exceptions:
- NBAIS: Accepted only for B.A. Arabic, B.A. Islamic Studies, and B.A. Sharia.
- NABTEB: Not accepted for College of Health Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dentistry, and Allied Health Sciences.
Step-by-Step Registration Process
To complete the Direct Entry screening registration, follow these steps:
- Login: Visit the BUK website and click on the “2024 DE ONLINE SCREENING EXERCISE” link.
- Profile Update: Use your JAMB DE Registration Number, State, and Gender to log in. Ensure that your official JAMB photograph is used for your BUK ID.
- Payment: Generate your Personalised Payment Invoice (PPI), which will include a Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR). Pay the screening fee of ₦2,000 either online or at a commercial bank. Once payment is confirmed, print your acknowledgment slip.

- Ensure your O’ Level results are uploaded to JAMB CAPS; only candidates who have done this will be considered for admission.
