The University of Sydney’s Faculty of Engineering is offering the Faculty of Engineering International Tuition Fee Research Scholarship for outstanding international students pursuing higher degree research (HDR) studies.

About the Scholarship:

This scholarship is designed to support exceptional international students enrolled in PhD or master’s by research programs within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney. It covers academic tuition fees and the SSAF.

Scholarship Benefits:

• PhD Recipients: Coverage for up to 12 research periods, with a possible extension of two additional periods based on satisfactory academic performance.
• Master’s by Research Recipients: Coverage for up to four research periods (no extensions possible).

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

• Be an international student.
• Have an unconditional offer for a full-time PhD or master’s by research program within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney, with the intent to transfer to a PhD after the first progress review.
• Provide evidence that your stipend allowance is being paid by a third-party sponsor or is university-funded.
• Apply for and be considered for the Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship (International).
• Not be the recipient of an RTP or equivalent primary scholarship that provides academic course fees.

Selection Criteria:

• Academic Merit: Based on academic achievements, the proposed area of study, and research potential.
• Faculty Priorities: Preference may be given to students with supervisors who are early to mid-career researchers and whose research aligns with the Faculty’s strategic priorities.
• Selection Committee: The decision is made by a committee comprising the Faculty Associate Dean (Research), Associate Dean (Research Education), and School Research Education Directors.

How to Apply:

1. Apply for Admission: Submit an application for a full-time PhD or master’s by research program within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney and obtain an unconditional offer.
2. Apply for RTP Scholarship: After applying for the program, submit an application for the Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship (International).
3. Express Interest: Contact the Engineering HDR team at engineering.hdr@sydney.edu.au to express interest and provide evidence of stipend funding by a third-party sponsor or university-funded.

Additional Terms and Conditions:

• The scholarship may not be transferred to another research area or supervisor without prior approval.
• Recipients must remain enrolled full-time and maintain satisfactory academic performance to retain the scholarship.
• The scholarship is subject to funding availability and may be terminated if the recipient receives an alternative scholarship of equal or higher value or becomes an Australian Permanent Resident.
