2024 Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) Scholars Program; The Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) is pleased to announce the commencement of applications for the 2024 NHEF Scholars Program.
This initiative aims to identify and support promising young Nigerians currently enrolled in Partner Universities, offering them comprehensive career training and skill-building opportunities to enrich their long-term career prospects.

Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify as an NHEF Scholar, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:
- Be penultimate students at one of the NHEF Partner Universities, either in their 300 Level pursuing a 4-year course or 400 Level studying a 5-year course.
- Demonstrate outstanding academic performance and well-rounded involvement in both academic and extracurricular activities.
- Show dedication to Leadership, Community Service, Philanthropy, and contributing to global initiatives.

- Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
- Bayero University, Kano
- University of Ibadan
- University of Lagos
- University of Nigeria, Nsukka
- University of Port Harcourt
Program Details:
The Scholars Program provides selected candidates with a weeklong orientation program focusing on career development training essential for a successful transition into the global job market.
During the program, scholars undergo intensive training from a carefully chosen group of international facilitators, undertake internship placements at Partner Firms lasting 6 – 8 weeks, and participate in a robust curriculum ensuring continual personal and professional growth.
Submission Procedure:
All applications must be submitted via the NHEF Application Portal by 11:59 p.m. (WAT) on March 29, 2024. The submission process entails the following steps:
- Access the NHEF application portal: NHEF Application Portal.
- Register by providing required details and creating an account.
- Verify the email address.
- Log in using the created account.
- Proceed to the application by selecting the APPLY tab.
- Complete all bio-data information and respond to program essay questions.
- Upload supporting documents: one-page Curriculum Vitae (CV), one-page Cover Letter, and the most recent Statement of Result (in PDF format).
- Review application responses and submit.
Note: Prepare responses to application questions beforehand on a separate document for easy copy-pasting, as the application cannot be saved and must be submitted in one session.
Successful Application Submission:
Applicants can confirm successful submission through the following steps:
- A message confirming submission will appear on the applicant’s dashboard.
- An email confirmation will be sent to the applicant’s email address.
- The Scholars Program application tab on the dashboard will become inaccessible.

The deadline for applications is March 29, 2024, by 11:59 PM WAT. Eligible applicants are encouraged to apply early.
