NBTE trains 250 lecturers on revised entrepreneurship curriculum; The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has unveiled revised entrepreneurship and skills development curricula designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge to create jobs upon graduation.

Idris Bugaje, the Executive Secretary of NBTE, emphasized this objective during a national workshop held in Enugu, which focused on the Reviewed Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Curricula for Entrepreneurship Educators in Nigerian Polytechnics and similar institutions. The two-day workshop brought together 250 lecturers from polytechnics, mono-technics, and related technical institutions in the South-East region.
The workshop, organized by NBTE in collaboration with Danglo Management and Financial Limited and sponsored by the Tertiary Education Fund (TetFund), is part of an effort to enhance technical education and foster entrepreneurship.

Bugaje, represented by Kabiru Yar’adua, highlighted the significance of the reviewed curricula, which will enable students to graduate with dual certifications – a regular school certificate (degree) and an occupational certificate (skills) that will encourage them to establish their own businesses or engage in trades.
He emphasized the need for technical education to adapt to the evolving economy, embrace emerging technologies, and cultivate a spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation.
The shift in focus from degree acquisition to skill proficiency and employment creation is a response to changing times and modern needs, with entrepreneurship and skill acquisition now compulsory for every student in NBTE-regulated institutions.
Ngozi Okelekwe, the South-East director of NBTE, emphasized that the revised curricula on entrepreneurship education would enlighten instructors on systems that yield expected results.
Musa Koko, the director of the Curriculum Development Department of NBTE, noted that the existing entrepreneurship study, which had remained unchanged for over 17 years, had become obsolete and failed to meet the demands of modern job creation and employability.
