Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas gets NBTE accreditation for 5 ND programmes
The news was revealed during an exit briefing by Prof Mohammad Idris Bugaji, the team leader and representative of the NBTE’s Executive Secretary, along with Arch. Ngbegede Ogoh, the Director of Programs at NBTE. They highlighted that the polytechnic had faced challenges in the past due to resource mismanagement, hindering its efforts to secure full accreditation for its programs.
Arch. Ogoh noted that similar institutions had already obtained accreditation, enabling them to offer National Diploma and Higher National Diploma certificates. The team expressed satisfaction that the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny, successfully met the requirements for accreditation of five National Diploma programs.
The team leader advised the polytechnic’s management to leverage its strengths in oil and gas-related courses, given the institution’s domain expertise in the field.
The NBTE Accreditation Team commended Mr. Job Anyebe, the Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, for his efforts in ensuring compliance with the requirements for the approval of the five programs within just three months of assuming office. They further advised focusing on practical coverage enhancement, staffing, facility improvement, and regular staff promotions to enhance productivity.
In response, the Acting Rector expressed gratitude to the accreditation team for their assistance in elevating the Polytechnic to new heights, despite financial challenges.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of the accreditation report to the Acting Rector.
The accredited programs include Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology, Industrial Safety and Environmental Engineering Technology, Petroleum Marketing, Mathematics, and Statistics.
This accomplishment marks the beginning of a transformative journey, fostering excellence and shaping the future of the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny.
