UNIOSUN Law Programme Gets Quota Increase
On Thursday, 19th January 2023, the Accreditation Panel of the Council of Legal Education visited the University’s College of Law, Ifetedo Campus, to conduct a reaccreditation exercise on the Law programme. The purpose of this exercise was to evaluate the programme and determine the possibility of increasing the admission quota.
In a recent statement by Ademola Adesoji, the University’s Public Relations Officer, it was disclosed that the Council had sent a letter dated Thursday, 30th March 2023, addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor ‘Ayo Clement Adebooye, and signed by Mrs Elizabeth Max-Uba, the Secretary to the Council and Director of Administration.
The recently received letter states, “The Council has approved the Faculty’s maintenance of its Provisional Accreditation status. Additionally, the admission quota of the Faculty has been increased to one hundred and twenty (120), effective immediately from the date of this letter.” It is important to note that this increase in quota will only apply to future intakes at the 100 level and will not have any retroactive effect on Law School admissions.
This quota increase is a result of the outstanding teaching and research facilities, remarkable achievements of students and alumni of the University’s College of Law, and the overall positive assessment of key performance indicators over the past years. Notably, in November 2022, Oluwabusola Mary, an alumna of the College, achieved a first-class at the Nigerian Law School, as evidenced by the 2022 Bar Part II final examination results. Furthermore, in the same year, Richard Solomon Abayomi, a 400-level student of the College, was appointed as a West African Youth Ambassador by the West African (ECOWAS) Youth Council. These achievements contribute to the College’s well-deserved recognition and accolades.
