About the University of Lagos

Role and Responsibilities of the Registrar
The Registrar is a Principal Officer and the Chief Administrative Officer of the university, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administration, excluding financial matters which are managed by the Bursar. The Registrar also serves as the Secretary to the University Council, Senate, Convocation, and Congregation.
The ideal candidate will possess academic distinction, managerial acumen, and integrity. This role requires dynamic leadership and the ability to foster strong relationships within the university community. The candidate must be a team player with a forward-thinking vision for a 21st-century university registry.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A good Honour’s degree and an NYSC discharge certificate or proof of exemption.
- A higher degree and membership in a recognized professional body are advantageous.
- A minimum of 15 years of post-qualification administrative experience.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in a senior management position within a university or a similar institution.
- Applicants must be under 60 years of age as of 1st February 2025.
The successful candidate should demonstrate a commitment to advancing and enhancing the university’s development vision.
Terms of Appointment
The selected candidate will be appointed for a five-year term, with the possibility of an additional year subject to satisfactory performance, as determined by the University’s Governing Council.
