Applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Must be single and a Nigerian citizen by birth, with a National Identity Card or NIN slip and BVN.
2. Must pass the medical, physical, and psychological standards set by the Nigerian Army.
3. Must have no criminal record.
4. Must possess a birth certificate from the National Population Commission, hospital, or local government.
5. Must provide a certificate of state of origin.
6. Male applicants must be at least 1.68 meters tall, and females 1.65 meters.
7. Age requirements:
   • Non-trades applicants: 18-22 years old (as of 31 December 2024).
   • Trades applicants: Must not exceed 26 years old (as of 31 December 2024).
8. A minimum of four passes in WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB (including English) is required in no more than two sittings.
9. Applicants for trades roles must have a Trade Test/City Guild Certificate.
10. Applicants must bring warm clothing (e.g., cardigan, head warmer, hand gloves, blanket) to the screening center.
