UNIBEN announces closure for elections
The University of Benin’s vice chancellor, Lilian Salami, has ordered that all academic programs be suspended in preparation for the general elections of 2023.
This information was published in a notification on Sunday in Benin by the institution’s registrar, Ademola Bobola.
According to Mr. Bobola, the university will be closed from February 22 to March 14 in accordance with a decree issued by the federal government through the National Universities Commission.
The registrar also gave orders for all students living on campus to leave their residence halls by noon on February 22. He stated that regular academic activities would resume on March 15.
He cited the vice-chancellor and university administration in saying that they had urged students to behave peacefully during the national elections.
