      Today’s lesson: How commercial motorcycles came to be known as Okada.

       

      Okada Air, owned by the Igbinedion patriarch, was one of Nigeria’s most popular airlines in the late 1980s to early 1990s, around the same time bikes as means of commercial transport spread across Nigeria.

       

      Nicknamed Okada by users to “console” themselves as also moving fast like aeroplane.

       

      I hope I have not taught you nonsense, although there may have been one person or publication that first used the word for bikes.
