Please use your platform to beg for justice. RT Fidelis Osaghae, a vibrant 33-year old man working as the manager of Valchi Fast Foods in Auchi, a company owned by Mr. Valentine Oyemike, a popular politician in Auchi, Edo State. Fidelis just got married and has a baby who will be 3-month old by August 12, 2024.
Last week Sunday, 28th of July, he drove to work as usual in the afternoon around 1:30pm, left his loving wife and baby at home to come back between 1am to 3am as the custom is everyday. He gets home that late because of the nature of his job. This mentioned Sunday, he came home around 2:30am on bike to pick something and rushed out immediately telling his wife not to lock the door as he will soon be back.
She, Esther kept the door unlocked waiting for him until she dozed off. Around 5am, she woke up only to notice he wasn’t at home yet which is kind of strange. She started calling his line but was unable to reach him. She then call one of the Supervisors in his workplace, Tracy, to help her look for her husband so she can talk to him. After several calls put to Tracy, Tracy told her on the phone “Everything is under control”.
This statement further destabilized Esther who is already eager to know what is happening to her husband. No explanation. Around 6am, Esther received a call from Mr. Valentine Oyemike that the should hastily come to Favour Hospital, Afasho Edo. She was shakingly asking what happened but Valentine reiterated that she should come to the hospital asap.
This further destabilized her. Her elder sister who is with them for the taking care of the new baby told her not to go due to her state and being a new mother. Her sister went in her place, rushing to the hospital. On reaching the hospital, her sister met the dead body of Fidelis in the car of Valentine Oyemike.
The hospital claimed he was brought in DEAD already . Upon further observation, injuries and marks were noticed on the body of Fidelis. What happened to him?
Mr. Valentine claimed he committed suicide at work . How can someone leave his home to commit suicide at his workplace? Someone in a loving relationship with his wife. Someone who just had a baby. Mr. Valentine Oyemike rushed out of the hospital and came in with police from Police Division HQ Auchi.
They claim the case is now within their jurisdiction. The body was deposited at the morgue. Now, the DPO of Auchi Police Station has been pressuring the family of the deceased into accepting that their son committed suicide. Everyone is begging for autopsy and investigation but this DPO is bent on what he said.
He is already exonerating Mr. Valentine and casting aspersions on Esther and her sister. He has promised the family that if they take the case to the IGP, Brekete Family or anywhere that they will meet him there. The family NO LONGER TRUST this DPO at all. Akin Fadeyi Foundation has petitioned the IGP for the case to be taken off his hands.
This case is deep. The misery behind his sudden death must be unraveled and everyone involved brought to justice. Please don’t overlook this. Justice is all the family is asking for. Please tag anyone tag-able.
