Kwara gunmen kidnap two children and demand N20 million in ransom.

Gunmen dressed in army uniforms are said to have kidnapped three children in the Aseyori community in the Alagbado area of Ilorin, Kwara State.

According to PUNCH Metro, the hoodlums, who fired into the air, attacked the victims’ father, Lukman Aliyu, a scrap metal dealer, around 12 a.m. on Saturday.

The incident allegedly caused panic among residents, who ran helter-skelter.

The kidnapping of the three young boys was later discovered.

However, one of the three children was reportedly rescued by vigilantes who pursued the attackers while they abducted two children, Quadir, 15, and Muideen, 12.

This is the third kidnapping in the area in the last month.

Lukman, the father of the three boys, said he had just turned off his generator and gone inside to sleep when the kidnappers struck.

“They threatened to kill me and members of my family,” he said. We locked ourselves in a room, five of us in total, including my wife, but the hoodlums broke into the house and took the children away. There was no public power supply, so it was pitch black.”

Lukman, who claimed he had no idea how he escaped the kidnappers, said his wife, Sarat, was hit in the chest during the attack.

He claimed that if it hadn’t been for the quick response of members of the community’s vigilance group, all three of his children would have been taken away by the hoodlums, who were all dressed in military uniform.

“They took four phones from us and demanded N20 million in ransom.”

“This is the third kidnapping in the area, and residents have been fleeing their homes out of fear of being kidnapped,” he added.

Okasanmi Ajayi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and stated that efforts were being made to rescue the victims.
