King Charles III will continue foreign tours despite a recent cancer diagnosis, Buckingham Palace confirmed. After doctors gave encouraging reports on his progress, he resumed public duties on a limited scale in April and has now wrapped up his tour of Australia and Samoa.
The palace is planning a “full overseas tour programme” for next year, marking an optimistic milestone in the king’s recovery journey. During his recent tour, Charles thrived on the busy schedule, which reportedly lifted his spirits and supported his recovery. “The tour, despite its demands, has been the perfect tonic,” a palace official shared, highlighting how beneficial the engagements have been for the monarch’s mood and health.
This visit was Charles’ first to Australia since ascending the throne after Queen Elizabeth II’s passing in 2022. Alongside Queen Camilla, he completed more than 30 engagements over 11 days, including stops in Sydney, Canberra, and Apia, Samoa’s capital. In Apia, he participated in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, where the agenda included climate change and the legacy of colonialism among the 56-member nations.
Despite his diagnosis, Charles remains determined to fulfill his role on the global stage, with upcoming plans set to expand his international presence even further.
