First Lady, NSA to Lead National Prayer for Nigeria’s Economic Turnaround

ABUJA – First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu will lead a national prayer session focused on seeking divine intervention for Nigeria’s economic, social, and security challenges. Under the theme “Seeking the Intervention of God in Nigeria’s Affairs,” the initiative brings together Christian and Muslim leaders in a unified response to the nation’s crises.

Chief Segun Balogun Afolorunikan, Director General of the National Prayer Forum (NPF), announced the week-long event in Abuja, emphasizing the importance of unity in addressing Nigeria’s challenges. The interfaith prayer gatherings aim to inspire resilience among citizens and encourage leaders to pursue lasting stability for the country.

The prayer sessions will occur at two prominent venues:

      • For Muslims: Over seven days, 313 participants will gather at the National Mosque, engaging in 2,191 recitations of the Qur’an, dedicated to Nigeria’s peace and stability.
      • For Christians: At the National Ecumenical Centre, prayer warriors from multiple denominations will spend a week focusing on the nation’s hardships, praying for relief and progress.

In preparation, NPF leaders have collaborated with the National Mosque, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and key traditional leaders, including the Sultan of Sokoto, to ensure wide participation. Organizers express hope that this effort will bring a renewed sense of purpose and stability as Nigeria approaches 2025.

Afolorunikan stated, “Unity is crucial for finding lasting solutions. By the end of this prayer session, we believe that with God’s guidance, our leaders and citizens will find the strength to confront our common challenges.”
