The country’s polytechnics are to be shut down in advance of the general elections, which are set for February 25 and March 11, 2023, according to Education Minister Adamu Adamu.
The Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Idris Bugaje, was asked to convey the directives to the rectors and provosts of all polytechnics.
The Minister directed that all academic activities be stopped between February 22 and March 14.
It read;
“In view of concerns expressed on the security of employees, students, and possessions of our various institutions,” the education minister Adamu Adamu “has, following extensive talks with the relevant security authorities, directed that all polytechnics be shut down.”
The academic calendar will be closed from Wednesday, February 22, to Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
