A white wedding, characterized by the bride wearing a white dress and following certain Western customs and traditions, is not originally an African culture. It has its roots in Western societies, particularly popularized by Queen Victoria’s wedding in the 19th century. However, over time, many African cultures have adopted and integrated the concept of a white wedding into their own wedding traditions, blending it with local customs and rituals. Thus, while a white wedding is not inherently African, it has become a part of the wedding landscape in many African countries.

Nigerians do not have to incorporate the white wedding because of religious practices or the western influence. The traditional wedding is enough. The only Marriage that God recognized is the marriage Blessed and Given Consent by Both Parents. Practically, you have recognized God by seeking your parent’s consent and their blessings.
