Adigun Agbaje, an abducted ex-UI DVC, regains his freedom.

Professor Adigun Agbaje, the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) of the University of Ibadan, has been released after being kidnapped on Friday.

At around 6 p.m. on Friday, Agbaje was on his way to Ibadan when kidnappers stopped him near the Sat Guru Maharaji Garden, reportedly killing some police officers before fleeing with their captives.

The kidnappers then contacted his family and demanded a N50 million ransom.

Multiple sources in UI’s Department of Political Science, where Agbaje is highly regarded, confirmed his release to FIJ on Sunday.

He is a Political Science professor who is regarded as one of UI’s most prestigious products and is well-liked by the majority of his students.
