Answers:The poem apparitions explored the theme of loneliness which is the man focus of the poem and also reflects on aging and the transformation of perception.yeats expresses a preference for solitude and company of a friend who does not judge his incoherence.he also lay emphasis on the paragraph two describing how lonely he was.he says(I have found nothing half so good,as my long planned half solitude where I can’t sit up).he also explained how old age change ones perspective and made him to realized that he is closer to death,yeats also further in his explanations that he experienced apparitions severally, which he sees that too much of isolation also cause it.
Questions 2:how does these devices contribute to the overall mood and message of the poem. Answers: The two devices mentioned is the theme of loneliness and dissillusionment, they are centre idea and main theme of the poem,the poet explained how emotions of being isolated he was, which made him underscores by the apparitions.the poet also explained how reality and illusion represent his imaginative thought,suggesting that as one grow older,reality become increasingly blurred.so,this device trigger his mood to explain how the journey of being solitude and isolated he was.
