KWASU Releases 2023/2024 Postgraduate Admission Form
1. Admission Requirements
a. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes
Applicants eligible for Postgraduate Diploma admission are as follows:
i. Graduates of Kwara State University or other recognized universities.
ii. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) (not HD) with a minimum of Credit pass or its equivalent in relevant areas.
iii. Candidates with qualifications accepted by the Board of School of Postgraduate Studies and Senate of the University.
iv. Additionally, candidates must meet the University’s matriculation requirements.
The PGD Programme spans a minimum of 2 semesters and a maximum of 4 semesters.
b. Master’s Degree (Academic)
The following qualify for Masters’ degree admission:
i. Graduates of Kwara State University or other recognized universities with an approved Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of Second Class (Upper Division).
ii. Candidates with Second Class Lower Division may be considered but need to take a qualifying examination.
iii. Candidates must meet the University’s matriculation requirements.
c. M.Phil./Ph.D.
Candidates seeking admission into the M.Phil./Ph.D. degree program must hold a Master’s degree with a minimum cumulative (Weighted) Average Score of 55%. Such candidates need to meet the University’s matriculation requirements. The M.Phil./Ph.D. program may be terminal if the candidate scores below 60% after the M.Phil. examination.
d. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D.) Degree Programmes
Applicants for the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree program must have a Master’s degree with a minimum Cumulative (Weighted) Average Score of 60% and meet the University’s matriculation requirements.
2. Duration
A. Full-time
The minimum duration for Master’s degree program (Full-time) is three (3) semesters, and the maximum is six (6) semesters. For M.Phil., it’s a minimum of two (2) semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree programs (Full Time) last a minimum of six (6) semesters and a maximum of ten (10) semesters.
B. Part-time
The minimum duration for Master’s degree program (Part-time) is six (6) semesters, and the maximum is eight (8) semesters. The Ph.D. Part-Time program requires a minimum of eight (8) semesters.
3. Structure
All academic programs consist of a combination of coursework and research.
4. Procedure for Payment of Fees
a) Visit https://portal.kwasu.edu.ng
b) Click on “Apply now.”
c) Select the Postgraduate link on the Apply Now menu.
d) Fill in the required details and click Next.
e) Make payment using your ATM Card information.
f) Upon successful payment, an application number will be generated.
g) Use your application number and surname as the password to log in and complete your application.
h) Print your completed application and payment receipt.
Note: Payment is only possible with Interswitch MasterCard or Verve Card.
5. Application Guidelines
a). Applicants should visit www.kwasu.edu.ng for entry requirements and follow instructions for online application.
b). Sale of application forms runs from Friday, 25th August 2023 to Tuesday, 24th October 2023.
c). Application form fee is N30,000:00 (Thirty Thousand Naira only).
d). All candidates must arrange for their official academic transcripts to be sent to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, Kwara State University, Malete by Friday, 27th October 2023.
